Bear Bratsky is Chase Ambrose's and Aaron Hakimian's childhood friend, teammate, and fellow bully until Chase fell off a roof and lost his memories. This caused Chase to become a much kinder person, leading to him and Aaron creating schemes to turn their former friend back into a bully. Ultimately, he is shunned away from all of his friends except for Aaron.

Under construction, see Aaron Hakimian’s page for similar information!

Story[]

Chapter 1 and 2[]

Bear is first briefly mentioned chapters 1 and 2.

In chapter 1, Chase sees him present on his phone’s wallpaper but does not realize who he is until chapter 3.

In chapter 2, Bear is brought up by Shoshanna Webber as she describes the prank that caused her brother to be sent away.

Chapter 3[]

Bear makes his first appearance in Chapter 3 where Chase returns to school after being discharged from the hospital.

While Chase is intimidated by his and Bear’s loud entrance, they treat him with his respect for his injury and show a friendly attitude. Bear smacks a teammate after he incorrectly assumes that Chase had jumped off a clock tower, and corrects him with that truth—that Chase had fell off the roof of his home.

Bear quickly asks if Chase would be to participate in football games for the season, but Chase reports that his doctor advised against it.

When Chase confesses that he has amnesia, Bear has a hard time grasping the information but is notably stunned when it dawns on him. Bear asks if he would be okay for lacrosse in the spring and becomes upbeat when Chase affirms it, though he thinks Bear’s happiness might be faked.

Chapter 4[]

At the end of Chapter 4, Bear knocks Brendan Espinoza out of his chair during lunchtime to drag Chase away to another table with he and the Hiawassee Hurricanes.

Chapter 5[]

In Chapter 5, Aaron and Bear are relentless in their questioning of Chase’s memories and if they have returned.

While the two of them shield Chase from the brunt of the Hurricanes’ roughhousing, their pestering over Chase’s condition notably stresses him out. Bear specifically is shown asking Chase more questions.

When Chase describes an encounter he has—bumping into a girl and scaring her off—Bear and Aaron both brush off the situation, as they make their way to their community service. Bear details that the two only have 2 months left of their time as Aaron describes what caused them to be arrested—being the incident involving Joel Webber.

Chase wishes his mother had told him more of his past and states his father saying he shouldn’t let his mother coddle him. Bear exclaims at the mention of Chase’s father, saying he had been a part of the best football of Hiawassee next to theirs.

Personality[]

Bear is a lot more straight-forward and blunt when it comes to his feelings about Chase's amnesia in comparison to Aaron. He is highly skeptical of Chase’s condition and goes as far as accusing him of faking his amnesia.

Trivia[]

  • Bear's jersey number is 57.
  • Bear is a lineman on the field.
